With 12 volts? Not likely. I think it just comes down to convenience - theirs. The john is a module and hinges are probably on the other side in the original Pod.
Add in the cardinal rule of business - cheapness is goodness. |

On that topic of switches, I wish the toilet light switch on the #179 was on the other side of the door opening. Having it on the hinge side is just wrong.
[/QUOTE] Agreed! But maybe they were afraid we'd electrocute ourselves if the switch were in the shower.

We got a small battery-powered motion detector light and put it inside above the entry door. It works very well. There is some adjustment on the sensor, so it can also be set to come on if we go into our "kitchen."

Inside and down low, just for enough light to safely step in and find the overhead light. Could then be turned off for the night. The model I'm going to try could be hung on a small screw or hook, or even placed on the floor or counter of the 179. We're taking our first long trip (10 days) starting Thursday so I'll try it out and post the findings. I also like your idea of the little puck type lights, and Gregm's idea about the night light.

Are you talking about putting the motion detector light inside or outside? I would think that inside would not work very well. After all, I don't want a light turning on if I need (or my wife needs) to get up during the night. I'd rather have a switch by the door. Perhaps one of the little round puck type LED lights that can just be tapped to turn on and off would suffice.

Great idea, but in the meantime I'm thinking about a small solar powered light with motion detector to pop on when the door is opened at night. Ambient daylight inside would be enough to power it for such limited use. My son just gave me an MPOW solar motion sensor light with 8 LEDs I've been using at the house, so I'll move it to the 179 and try it. A 4 LED version should work just as well.

What kind of night light are you using? If you are dry camping, how are you powering it? Did you put a 12 volt outlet there, or are you running an inverter? |
