I think if you lift up the glass plate you can remove the plastic piece that rotates the plate. Then you can insert it back in place when you want the plate to rotate. Our microwave is a different make but I think that may be a common way they operate.

The manual for the microwave is a bit lacking.
 
I've tried using the convection option of the microwave, and the rotation of the food continues.  This makes it difficult to use a square metal pan for heating up a barbecued pork shoulder or anything similar.   Seems uneccsary and not sure if it's by design or not.
