Budward,
I agree, the 179 dinette conversion to a "double" bed just isn't practical due to the poor design of the table height and the cushion configuration.  In our case it is just the wife and I so it is not a big deal to us but it is still frustrating that we only really have a single bed for a guest (or grand kids).

Another thing we didn't like with the dinette configuration was that it was very awkward to get around the table to the bench seat. We ended up keeping the table turned perpendicular to the window and pushed as far as possible against the bench.  I also unbolted the table base and moved it about 3-1/2" towards one end of the table which leaves plenty of walking space between the end of the table and the bathroom wall/door.  This simple change made a huge improvement in the functionality of the dinette area for us.

So what do other 179 owners think of the dinette conversion to a bed?

The cushions for the "wings" are way too thick, difficult to stay seated on and slide out of place.

The couch back cushion when used as part of the bed,  is the wrong shape (not a rectangle) and also won't stay in place.  It needs a grippy back instead of slick vinyl if it ever is to be of any use.

The table when folded down into the bed support mode has the legs too far in- for example if one sits anywhere near the ends it flips up trying to dump you on the floor.

The covers on the too thick wing cushions are migrating around the inner foam core after only one week of our use.

I really have to wonder about FR-  does anyone ever actually try to use some of their designs before they go into production?Angry

Fortunately we don't really use the dinette bed- but if we had a guest not to mention two there is a big problem with the near useless "bed".
