Thanks! Yes, the space available for sink in the 178 is 40" also. The stovetop is 18" wide mounted 2 1/2" from fridge wall, leaving 19 1/2" total for sink. Yes, the 17x17 will fit. It just looked like you had a little more margin from your pics.

Thanks again, and great work!

We replaced our sink in our 171 it is much nicer to have a larger stainless steel sink. All I can say you have to measure to see if the one you want will fit. Manufactures provide detailed measurements on their web sites. Make sure you allow space for under the counter for the clips that secure the sink.    David

Has anyone with a 178 done a (galley) sink replacement? I do not like the factory plastic sink.

I am extremely jealous of what marwayne did with his sink replacement and counter extensions and everything else, but it appears that the 172 might have a tad more counter space to work with. I'm not quite ready to rebuild the entire counter just yet.

15x15 and 17x17 drop in stainless (bar) sinks are quite common and not terribly expensive. The 17x17 (preferrable) would be a pretty tight fit and not sure how much I would gain with the 15x15.

Any opinions? Thanks!
