The screen gasket checked out fine, but you pointed me in the right direction - the filter housing itself was cracked. Simple fix at low cost - Thanks for this.

Have you physically removed the screen/filter, and checked the gasket for cracks and put back together?
I have seen where the valve to the pigtail, or as you call it, the stub line doesn't fully close and it is possible for you to blow air into the line, indicating a leak.  I have seen this work where the pump is running and you open and close the valve downstream from the pigtail - sometimes it will catch and start pumping after going this route a several times.  Also have you checked all your lines when pump is running?  Any mouse droppings or otherwise where something may have chewed a tiny hole into your line(s)?

Brought this up in a recent post and will continue the problem solving under a more accurate title. Last fall, I blew out the water lines with a steady 20psi, then added RV antifreeze to the drain traps. Been doing it this way for years. This year, the water pump turned on as usual but is getting air in somewhere and will not deliver a clear stream. I’ve checked the screen on the pump and it’s clear. I can’t detect any air from the stub line , no matter what position the first valve is in.

What shall I try next?
