Topic: New 171 owner in NC w/ questions Posted: 13 Dec 2020 at 9:14am |
I think you would have really liked the dome, but hopefully you like what ever you get. Some people like scrambled, some people like over easy.

I appreciated all the responses to my first post as an R-Pod owner. I've ordered this:
https://pahaque.com/collections/trailer-shades/products/r-pod-trailer-canopy
Once it comes in and I use it, I'll post a review.

And this is the Pahaque 'visor' on my 171....hey it looks cool...well made and all that...but....if it's even slightly breezy....you really need to take it down.

This size works well for a couple (and a pup or 2).

Take time to look. There are several sizes of the clam and each has different prices when you search clam shelters.

Thanks for all the responses...here's another question based upon them.
Are those referring to the "clam" and the "visor" referring to the same thing? The Paha Que product?

Also, I think the best way to carry bikes is a tongue mounted bike carrier. I use the stromberg carlson bike bunk and it is a great system.

The problem with awnings for me is the bugs. That all depends on where you live/camp, if you never camp where you have that problem you're lucky.
At the beach in NC as an example in the right weather conditions the skeeters will find any little crack or gap, so the rdome does not work there either. They want your BLOOD and they will find a way to get it if there is one. The Clam or an equivalent pop up fully screened tent will keep 'em out, and that can make all the difference between enjoying being outside or getting eaten alive.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we also made a tarp that woks well. We bought a standard 8'x12' tarp, ordered the correct size keder tape and sewed it to the edge of the tarp.
We love it, but we also still love and use our Rdome as well Vann
