For the backsplash, instead of sheet metal you might try just a piece of formica. You could also check with local shops that deal with it and get it cut to fit. Just a thought.

Glad the pics helped. The legs (when placed correctly around the stove edge, keep the cover in place so that it can sit there during travel. Glad it worked out for so many people.

I went to Wally World and picked one of these up. I think it's the same color as yours. Looking forward to putting it all together when I get some time. This was a wonderful idea and very inexpensive.

What a great idea Neadmo! Thanks for sharing. I like it better than the one I made. I made it from a chopping block I bought at Walmart and glued legs on it.

Thanks! I ended up getting "feet" at a craft store. They are actually little wooden barrels meant to be used for dollhouses or train set landcape, etc. I'm going to finish it today....hopefully.

Maybe a jelly roll pan (looks like a cookie sheet with high sides)? I am going to use a big (but thin/lightweight) butcher block type cutting board (Wal-Mart) w/attached feet (going to Lowes tomorrow).

I haven't done it but I would offer the idea of getting a piece of sheet metal (like the type for duct work); get it cut to size and try gluing it to the wall right behind the stove. This would make it permanent (but I am chicken to put holes in the walls). The sheet metal would give you a nice easy surface to wipe off.

nice idea. We picked up a nice wooden cutting board at Ikea and made legs on that.
