We had a Fleetwood Searcher on a ford f-350 chassis. 460ci FI, 10mpg on a good day. We initially bought it when the kids were young as we traveled, fished and hunted on a regular basis. Hunting in most cases was an issue as getting a class-c deep in n out of the back woods during the winter was unpredictable. Kids are grown and on their own so for the YL and I, it wasn't worth the cost of registration, insurance, emissions, storage, tires (6), routine maintenance of the engine/transmission/drive train and exterior. So we sold it and are enjoying the simplicity of our '17 rpod178.

wooleeman,
Two reasons - first mine was a 2000 Coachman, rear kitchen, nice but it got caught in a Nor'easter and was beginning to have lamination issues, I was repairing but got tired of the effort.
Second, if I didn't tow a vehicle I was always having to pack up and disconnect to even go to the store or a small errand. I like the idea of putting the trailer on site and being mobile. If I towed a car, then I had all the logistics of towing a vehicle, added length, etc.
Much happier with trailer.

Welcome, hope you make many great memories as you travel this glorious land. If the 178 had been available back in 2011 that would have been the model we would have picked, great floor plan. However, 7+ years and 25,000 + miles later, we still enjoy our 177.

Could both you and McCarter tell me why you made the switch? I have been thinking about switching the opposite way.
