Seems to me that if flies were getting in from the toilet, one would notice them while flushing. Since the valve is only open momentarily while the flush is going on, it should be pretty easy to see. But I could be wrong yet again.

I use a Flo-jet pump, it's handy and I have an underground 1" line tied into the sewer system in the house. I use the pump when dumping the black tank and have a reducer to garden hose for the grey tank. I have a 30 amp plug in the yard and a water line so the grand kids etc can stay in the camper in the summer.

Not surprised. It reminds me of a variation of an old saying: "You can attract more flies with honey than with vinegar...but you can attract even more flies with manure." |

We're very fortunate as our septic tank is along side of the driveway such that we can pull over, and open the cleanout and just dump. Pull the R-pod right along side of it. If I was really good, I might not even need the hose (but I'd never attempt such a maneuver).

I was recently at a campground and noticed when I removed the cover of the park's drain, there were a lot of drain flies AKA moth flies. I suspect these would then go up the hose and take up residence in your tank. I had this happen in our house and had some difficulty finding a way to get rid of them. Finally by using a foaming drain cleaner (one that starts out as two parts and combines as poured), they were gone.

I agree. I am afraid that I don't see a problem. I regularly drive around with a partially filled black tank for weeks on end. Am I missing something??
