Topic: All things venison Posted: 28 Mar 2018 at 9:21am |
We carry a Lodge dutch oven in our Pod to make wonderful Colombian beans. I'd love to find more things to cook in it. All I have now is the recipe book that came with it. The Lodge products are really nice and they've made them in TN since 1896.
So fire away with your Dutch oven madness!!!

Unbelievably, my cholesterol is about 185, with the good stuff in the lead.. my waistline.. not so happy about that.. but so far my DR. has not recommended anything.. but we do heat with wood, and do much splitting and stacking etc, by hand.. plus walk the dog a few miles a day. and we do a lot of oatmeal and cream of wheat breakfasts too..

Yes, we do. Fried, stewed, and occasionally, a pot pie.

For you pork belly eaters, there is something terribly decadent that you can do with a nicely smoked side of bacon. Cut it into strips about an inch or so wide, leaving on the skin/rind, then cross cut it into little cubes but don't cut through the skin. Cook it in it's own fat until it is a fairly well done and is starting to get a little crispy on the outside. It Colombian version of chicharón and is especially good with things like red beans and rice or patacón. [Fried plaintain or platano with a little salt]. But be sure to make an arrangement with your cardiologist for a visit to rotoroot your veins.
