Lumens for LED Bulbs

   After researching the forum and 'window shopping' online, I'm looking for your experience with the lumens of your LED bulbs. Not sure what is equivalent to the existing bulbs in terms of intensity. Many options, and most of the light fixtures are double bulbs, so I didn't want to go overboard on brightness. I'm sure there's a huge difference between 54 and 250 lumens.  Any thought in layman's terms would be great! (The technical info I read was interesting, but sometimes out of my field of knowledge. )
