Would like to replace the fold up removable table on our 2019  189 (rear couch) with a standard base mount and pole.  Can I screw the base mount into the floor or should I consider some other way of attachment ?  I have no idea how thick the floor is in this model.

I put a table base in our 172 and it worked really well.  I used 3/4" coarse threaded screws with heads that fit the base.  I think they were #12, but I did it back in 2017, so I don't recall for certain.  Be sure to keep the screws short enough so that you don't penetrate the exterior side of the floor.  Longer screws don't really help much because once you are past the plywood surface, you're into styrofoam that has almost zero withdrawal resistance.

I also swapped out the heavy particle board table for a Lifetime 24" x24" folding table with short legs.  Not only did it eliminate weight aft of the axel, it doubled as a coffee table that we used outside.  I put a small round piece of plywood on the bottom of the table attached with a bunch of little screws to provide a stronger base for attaching the upper table base disc.  When we needed the extra sleeping space in the dinette, I put the old table base on the floor of the bed of our truck to take along.

I just screwed the base onto a piece of 3/4 a little smaller than the top. We can scoot that around or even take it outside, and it travels apart on the bed.  I have the original table in the greenhouse and feed the barn cats on it.

I was going to say, well that's another way to skin a cat, but since you feed barn cats on your old table, maybe it might not be PC.  Wink  Sounds like a good solution.

I don't have a photo, and my 80 yr old brain may not be able to get it from a cell phone to this  computer.  But I got a pedestal and 2 floor socket mounts from a boat store - they use them to install pedestal seats.  With two pieces of 3/4 ply it makes the table around 29" from the floor.  top is about 2 ft square and bottom is about 18".  Table is wiggly if you have to push down on it to stand up, so just use your thigh muscles.  Works great. 3 or 4 can eat - think camping, not glamping.  Make the top any size you want.I made ours rectangular not square, with rounded edges and melamine on  top. Stores on the bed along with the folding chairs etc for travel.

 marwayne -

Thanks for sharing - you should have been a furniture builder !!  Couple of questions:  What is the U-shaped white piece at the rear of the table and on the left side of the picture it looks like something attached to the outside of your slide piece at the front ??

That is to stabilize the table, so I don't have to use 2 stand pipes
