What is the consensus opinion of the "Bearing Buddy" in terms of good wheel bearing maintenance? Is their use a reasonable alternative to traditional bearing re-packing?

We podders don't have bearing buddies. We have e-z lube hubs. There is significant difference between the two. I have complete faith in the e-z lube system.
Unless you have reason to suspect a bearing or brake lining problem, flush the grease using the e-z lube system and go on about your camping. ![]() |

Wow....I didn't realize we had such a system. On any of my other trailers of the past, I'm so use to removing the hub, cleaning, repacking, replacing seal, reassemble...major clean-up. This is awesome!! Still learning stuff about our 1 year Pod. Had plan to tend to the bearings prior to our first trip this season.

I'm not mechanically inclined and I was impressed with how easy the E-Z lube system was. The worse part was wiping out all the used grease; I used half of a jumbo roll of paper towels.

I think the term "E-Z lube" is being used generically here to describe a method that doesn't require disassembly. The Lippert Zerk fitting would fall into that category and that's what I was referring to.

This sounds too much like an EZ Lube love fest! ![]() I'll be "Mr. Contrary" and point out something I found a few years back: http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=6823&KW=Dexter&PID=64869&title=ez-lube-axles#64869 Take THAT...you bearing non-packers! ![]() (Yes, it is about Dexter but, I think Lippert is a similar design) |
