Hi,
Just purchased a 2015 R-pod 178 and was going to install a battery disconnect switch. I have just the one battery. When opening the battery box, I see 2 cables going to the positive terminal (1 larger gauge cable and one smaller gauge). There are also 2 cables going to the negative terminal (again 1 larger gauge wire and 1 smaller gauge wire). Anybody know what the smaller gauge wires go to? I don't have a motorized lift jack.... Should I switch both wires? (still not sure if I will put the switch on the negative side or positive side, everybody has different opinions on that...) Thanks for the input.... Steve |

The smaller wire goes to the solar hook up. Just disconnect it and put the switch on the larger wire. There's a lot disagreement about whether to put the switch on the negative or positive wire. Personally,I prefer the negative wire, but really either will do the job. The point is, you want to interrupt the circuit and a switch on either ide will do that.

What type of disconnect did you get? Can you send a pic of it installed?

Didn't install it yet, just got it yesterday.
Doing the install this weekend. Here is the link to the switch I bought from amazon. Also bought a few extra keys and a short 12" battery cable. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IBOH5EA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |

Furpod,
That was how I was planning on mounting my switch. Just out of curiosity.....I see two wires connected to one side of the switch with only 1 wire coming off the other side. Assuming the 1 wire goes to the battery positive and the other 2 wires are? Obviously 1 to the POD to supply power, but what is the other wire? Thanks |

One more question about installing a switch, I ordered a 12" cable to go from the switch to the battery would 4 gauge battery wire be enough? I ordered the cable from work without being able to see the current r-pod wire gauge.
Thanks |
